This post is entitled Thanksgiving because the month of November started yesterday and in it we celebrate Thanksgiving.  A lot of organizations and well wishers are aligning themselves to give to others in need.  During this season you will find a vast number of people looking to give in the abundance: food, clothing, etc.  My question to you is why? I am sure you would immediately say why not?

Let me qualify my statement by stating this fact! If you tried to count the number of people in this country alone who are hungry and without you would be surprise as to the numbers.  We spend a lot of time and effort to be charitable during the holidays but forget these same people who day by day pray to God that things get better for them.

You may be asking how do I know that? That's easy weekly I see the faces of those in my community who are struggling to make ends meet.  Its not just those who are poor and marginalized, more and more I am seeing an increase of people who are considered middle class too.  A lot of them have no ideal how to navigate through a system of what is traditionally set up for lower income people.

This begs the question, what are we doing wrong? We are all too familiar with the Bible stating that: "We should love our neighbors", "Do unto others has you have them to do until you", "Bear one another's burden", "Give and it shall be given unto you..." So why do we choose to use one or two months to do these things.

We have the solution to solve world hunger, yet we refuse to do it? Why? My answer to you would be why not?  We can start by giving to others daily not just two times a year. Give others your time and service and give back some of those things you brought.  Lord knows you will never use them.  I know it seemed like a good ideal when you purchased them.  I have a few white elephants myself that I will be sharing with others who can use them.

I challenge you to do the good you know and let God do the rest.  If you can't think of someone in need or just don't know how to get it to them; give these things to your church, hospital, TVC, and many other agencies to many to name.

During this Thanksgiving season I also want to challenge you to think about your relationship with Christ.  What are you most thankful for and has God done anything for you that you would like to share with others?  As you reflect on yourself don't forget to think of others and give the gift of Christ to others that you know.  Invite them to feast with Christ for they will never be hungry or thirsty again.

Peace and blessings to all in Christ,

El
